Employment and training opportunities in the fisheries sector (non-SPC)
10 August 2022 Research Fellow, Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security About the position
Join a team working at the frontier of research on participatory fisheries management, positively contributing to the lives of people in coastal communities in the Pacific region. This unique postdoctoral position provides a well-resourced operating space amongst a team of leading experts allowing for academic growth and collaboration, and an opportunity to be part of an established international network of researchers and practitioners. The role is part of a large Australia aid-funded project in Kiribati, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, led through UOW’s ANCORS, Australia’s only multidisciplinary university-based centre dedicated to research, education and training on ocean law, maritime security and natural marine resource management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to spend significant time working in remote locations to implement research that directly impacts policy and practice. The position will work alongside the research team, in-country project staff and counterparts in national fisheries agencies to co-design research, analyse data and publish at the forefront of the field. The position is based in Wollongong, and Pacific Island nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.
