The Sixth SPC Regional Technical Meeting on Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture (RTMCFA6) will discuss and address some of the main technical issues affecting coastal fisheries and aquaculture in support of better evidence-based resource management, the equitable access to resources, and to enhance the sustainable development of aquaculture and nearshore livelihoods.
RTMCFA6 will include the Third Community-Based Fisheries Dialogue (CBFD3), convened by and focused on civil society and non-state actor participation. The primary objectives of the Community-Based Fisheries Dialogue (CBFD) are:
a) To serve as a regional platform for civil society organisations (CSOs) and other non-state actors (NSAs) to provide advice on key needs and issues related to coastal fisheries resources across the Pacific Island region. This advice is then channelled through the RTMCFA to the Heads of Fisheries to inform regional fisheries ministers and Pacific leaders about these priority needs and issues
b) To provide a forum for CSOs and NSAs to exchange experiences and lessons learned from community-based initiatives.
